Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes and to determine the ability of teacher management in learning through the Problem Based Learning Model in class VIII A PPKn subjects at SMP contry16 Palu. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which consists of II cycles. The research design refers to the model of Kemmis and Mc Taggart, namely: 1) planning stage, 2) implementation of action, 3) observation, 4) reflection. The research subjects of class VIII A at SMP contry16 Palu totaled 30 students consisting of 14 male students and 16 female students. Data collection techniques in this study using observation, tests, documentation. The results of the research conducted in the first cycle showed that of the 30 students who took the test there were 18 students who did not complete so that the percentage of classical learning mastery reached 40% and the percentage of classical absorption reached 69.46. This has not reached the set standards of completeness so it must be corrected in cycle II. The results of the research conducted in cycle II increased from 30 students who took the test, only 3 students who did not complete and 27 students who completed it so that the percentage of classical learning completeness reached 90% and the percentage of classical absorption reached 80.83%. The increase in learning outcomes has reached the specified completeness standards, namely Classical Learning Completion of 85%, while Classical Absorption is 70%. The description of the increase in the analysis of student learning outcomes from cycle I to cycle II, cycle I Classical learning completeness 40% increased to 90% in cycle II action and the percentage of Classical Absorption Completeness in cycle I was 69.46%, increased to 80.83% in the second cycle of learning PPKn class VIII A at SMP Negeri 16 Palu. So it can be concluded that learning using Problem Based Learning Model can improve student learning outcomes.
