PENERAPAN MODEL PROBLEM BASED LEARNING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN HASIL BELAJAR SISWA PADA MATERI TEOREMA PYTHAGORAS

Abstract

Abstrak: Tujuan penelitan ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan model problem based learning (PBL)  untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada materi teorema Pythagoras di kelas VIII D SMP N 18 Palu. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas. Desain penelitian ini mengacu pada desain penelitian Kemmis dan  Mc.Taggart. penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan model PBL dengan mengikuti langkah-langkah, yaitu (1) orientasi siswa pada masalah (2) mengorganisasikan siswa untuk belajar, (3) membantu penyelidikan individual maupun kelompok, (4) mengembangkan dan menyajikan  hasil karya dan (5) menganalisis dan mengevaluasi proses pemecahan masalah. Dari hasil analisis tes akhir tindakan siklus I dan siklus II yang diikuti oleh seluruh siswa kelas VIII D yang berjumlah 25 orang menunjukkan bahwa pada siklus I dengan persentase ketuntasan klasikal yang dicapai sebesar 64% sedangkan pada siklus II dengan persentase ketuntasan klasikal yang dicapai sebesar 76%. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa adanya peningkatan hasil belajar dari siklus I ke siklus II yang telah berhasil mencapai nilai KKM yang diharapkan yaitu ≥ 75%. Pada aktivitas guru dan siswa pada siklus I berada dalam ketegori baik, sedangkan pada siklus II berada dalam kategori sangat baik. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa adanya peningkatan pada aktivitas guru dan siswa dari siklus I ke siklus II yang telah berhasil mencapai kategori yang diharapkan yaitu dari baik ke sangat baik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model PBL dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada materi teorema Pythagoras di kelas VIII D SMP Negeri 18 Palu melalui aktivitas yang dilakukan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasil observasi, wawancara, dan tes akhir tindakan yang dilakukan oleh peneliti.

Abstract: The main purpose of this research is to describe the application model problem based learning (PBL) in order to increase the result of students learning on system material of teorem Pythagoras  in class VIII D SMPN 18 Palu. The type of this research is classroom action research. The design of this research referred to Kemmis and Mc. Teggart’s design. This research was conducted in two cycles. This research was conducted using model PBL by following the steps, as follow(1) orientation the students at the problem, (2) organize the students to learn, (3) assist in the investigation of individual and group, (4) develop and present work result and, (5) analyze and evaluate problem-solving process. From result of analysis of final test of action of cycle I and cycle II which followed by all student of class VIII D which amounted to 25 people indicate that in cycle I with percentage of classical completeness achieved equal to 64% whereas in cycle II with percentage of classical completeness achieved equal to 76%. This indicates that there is an increase in learning outcomes from cycle I to cycle II which has successfully achieved the expected KKM score of ≥ 75%. In the activity of teachers and students in cycle I are in good category, while in cycle II is in very good category. This indicates that there is an increase in the activity of teachers and students from cycle I to cycle II who have successfully achieved the expected category that is from good to very good. The results of this study indicate that the application of PBL model can improve student learning outcomes on the material Pythagoras theorem in class VIII D SMPN 18 Palu through the activities of students in the learning process. This can be seen from the results of observations, interviews, and final tests conducted by the action of researchers.
