Abstract

The research aims to determine the role of Civics teachers in overcoming delinquency of students at SMA Negeri 1 North Dampal. This was a qualitative research with a descriptive approach and the research setting was at SMA Negeri 1 North Dampal. The research subjects were Civics and Islamic Religious Education teachers. The data were gathered through observation, interview, and documentation. Based on the results of the research, it shows that the role of the teacher in overcoming students’ delinquency is by providing special guidance to students who often commit delinquency at special hours, namely during recess or outside class hours, intended to teach students about the character values ​​of students, and also instill religious values. This shows that the role of Civics teachers in overcoming students’ delinquency at SMA Negeri 1 North Dampal is quite successful, seen from the handling of delinquency or violations of school discipline carried out by Civics teachers. In this case, the Civics teacher records the names of students who violate school rules and regulations in the student case book and are subject to sanctions in accordance with the violations committed.
