Abstract

This research aims to improve learning activities in Pancasila and Civic Education of grade VIII-B students at SMPN 6 Palu by implementing the CTL (Contextual Teaching And Learning) learning model. It was a Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisted of two cycles. The research subjects were 25 students of grade VIII-B at SMPN 6 Palu. Data collection techniques were observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed an increase in learning activities from cycle I to cycle II, with teacher activity increasing from 47.5 percent to 77.5 percent, placing it in the "excellent" category. According to the observation results of student activity in the first cycle, the percentage of student activity indicators, 44 percent of students are active in the learning process, 36 percent of students are active in raising questions, 39 percent of students are active in responding to questions, and 39 percent of students are active in discussion interaction, and students' activities are moderate. Then it was improved and re-treated in the second cycle, with a percentage of 62 percent of students active in learning, 60 percent of students are active in raising questions, 61 percent of students active in answering questions, and 62 percent of students active during discussion sessions, indicating that the student's activities are in a "good" category. So, it is possible to conclude that learning through CTL (Contextual Teaching And Learning) learning model can increase learning activities.
