APPLICATION OF ACTIVE DEBATE METHODS TO IMPROVE STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES IN PPKn LEARNING IN CLASS VIII PALU CONTRY 2 JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes in PPKn learning in class VIII SMP contry 2 Palu by using the active debate method. The subjects in this study were all students of class VIII B, totaling 32 people. This type of research is quantitative and qualitative research using classroom action research (PTK). This research was conducted in cycles and each cycle consisted of steps in steps, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. Based on the results of the research conducted, it shows that applying the active debate method can improve student learning outcomes in PPKn learning in class VIII B SMP contry2 Palu academic year 2020 semester 1. The results of research in cycle 1 have been applied to active debate learning methods students have increased because The students obtained the highest score of 93 and the lowest score of 55, the average score of 81.90, the number of students who completed the first cycle of action, namely 25 students and 7 students who did not complete. But the research has not been completed with these results because there are still students who have not completed or reached the KKM so that to fix the weaknesses that exist in cycle 1, the action is continued to cycle II. In the second cycle, when viewed from the initial test there was an increase because the average score obtained was 84.37, the lowest score was 50, while the highest score was 100 and the number of students who completed 29 students and students who did not complete were 3 out of 32 students. Based on the results of the research above, it can be concluded that the application of the active debate method can improve student learning outcomes in class VIII B of SMP contry 2 Palu.
