Abstract

This study aims to describe the pattern of character development of students at SMP Negeri 15 Palu. To identify the inhibiting factors in fostering student character at SMP Negeri 15 Palu. This research method is qualitative. The subjects of this study were teachers consisting of the Principal, Deputy Principal for Curriculum, PPKn teachers, Religion teachers and BK teachers. Data collection techniques in this study used interviews and documentation. The results of this study form 1) Patterns of Guidance for Student Character at SMP Negeri 15 Palu to instill moral values, such as the values ​​of honesty, decency, religion and discipline. Using an exemplary approach to students such as always speaking politely and politely and always dressed neatly. Creating an orderly and comfortable school environment. School activities in character building include: religious holidays, extracurricular activities such as Scouts, Paskibra, Youth Red Cross (PMR), sports extracurricular activities such as volleyball and football, dance and music extracurricular activities 2) Factors The obstacle in fostering student character at SMP Negeri 15 Palu is the parents of the students, the cooperation between the school and the parents is rather difficult, when there are students who violate the rules of conduct and the school invites parents to attend, the presence of parents who come is only about 10 % that can be expected to work together is due to the fact that around 75-80% of parents come from economically disadvantaged families. Lack of student discipline and lack of awareness of parents in involving children in school activities.
