Abstract

The purpose of this study (1) to identify the factors behind PPKn students having the ability to express opinions in the application of the discussion method in class B class 2017 of the PPKn FKIP Study Program at Tadulako University (2) To identify the factors behind PPKn students lacking the ability to express opinions in the application of discussion methods in class B 2017 class of the PPKn FKIP Study Program, Tadulako University. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with sampling using purposive sampling. The subjects of this study were all students of the Class B Civics Study Program class of 2017 totaling 54 people. The informants are 14 students in class B, 7 people who have the ability to express opinions and 7 people who lack the ability to have opinions in discussions. Data were collected through observation, interviews and documentation, and data were analyzed using three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the factors behind the PPKn study program students had the ability to express opinions in the application of discussion methods in class, namely: breadth of insight, modeling, participation in student organizations, and good self-confidence. The factors behind the PPKn study program students lack the ability to express opinions in the application of discussion methods in class, namely: thinking about the consequences, lack of literacy, lack of confidence, and introverted nature (quiet).
